Tess’s “In 30” Series.

Tess’s "In 30" Series Spring 2025 Symposium project allowed her to share snapshots of her experience whilst exploring various cultures during her time abroad. The character of a certain city or culture can get lost when you've only been able to spend a few days there. However, the aim of this series was to give Tess and the people in her life the ability to absorb the essence of each city or culture she was able to visit by simply watching each 30 second-long video.

ROME

Based in Rome, Italy, Tess began her series capturing the ancient city, filled with rich historical culture. She was lucky to spend almost half a year living in a city brimming with ancient ruins and world-famous landmarks such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Sistine Chapel. However, these monuments weren’t the focus of Tess’s short films. Instead, she aimed to capture a more intimate essence of the culture radiating throughout the city.

Paris, France

A warm but busy and bustling international city full of beautiful fashion and architecture. The iconic and timeless aura of this city cannot be understated.

Warsaw, Poland

The cold remnants of the USSR era might scare some outsiders away but once you begin to explore, the city welcomes you with a warm and rich culture. Warsaw is an unexpectedly wonderful city to visit if you’re willing to break that initial ice-like barrier.

Milan, Italy

Milan is a more industrial city, with people constantly in a rush. However, it still cherishes that warm Italian charm in small ways. The city is a modern and international hub for business, fashion, and commerce.

Naples, Italy

Naples holds a particular grittiness that might not meet many tourists’ expectations set for the Italian Riviera. However, that should not be a deterrent. Maybe it’s not as glamorous as Capri or Amalfi, but the city has its own extremely rich and authentically Neapolitan culture — plus, the pizza is unmatched.

Florence, Italy

No doubt, Florence is an ancient city filled with art and dense history. The city holds some of the most influential Renaissance works by famous artists… most importantly, Donatello.

No, the last name is no coincidence for those wondering.

Venice, Italy

No cars, no motorcycles, no bikes…only walking streets. Venice is filled with small side walkways that only people can enter through, making the city feel like an escape from the everyday congestion that comes with modern transport. This city forces you to slow down, catch a ride on the local water transport and breathe in the fresh saltwater air.
